Hallberg-Rassy is a Swedish builder of cruising sailing yachts. The yard is associated with protected cockpits, practical offshore layouts and yachts intended for comfortable coastal and long-distance cruising.
Because many examples have been upgraded during long ownership, an advertised yacht’s current rig, sails, systems and refit history may differ from its original factory specification.
History and ownership. The present company developed when Harry Hallberg’s yard and Christoph Rassy’s neighbouring operation came together in 1972. Based in Ellos on the Swedish island of Orust, Hallberg-Rassy remains family owned and is closely associated with long-distance cruising yachts.
Production and equipment. The yard controls design development, hull assembly, interior joinery, systems installation and final completion. Engines, spars, sails, deck hardware and electronics are sourced from specialist manufacturers and integrated to the chosen specification.
